Ministries & Outreach – St. Mary’s operates three outreach ministries on campus:
Nearly New Thrift Shop
Playtime Preschool Programme
St. Mary's Food Pantry is open Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to Noon and is operated by volunteers. Food is donated by the two area Food Banks - Island Harvest and Long Island Cares – as well as from parishioners and community groups such as the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Rotary Club of the Ronkonkomas. Financial support comes from individuals, the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island, Episcopal Church Women, local Homemakers Clubs, Rotary Club and other sources.
The Nearly New Thrift Shop is open Mon., Wed., & Fri. from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sat. from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The shop is managed and operated by volunteers. The shop sells new and nearly new clothing and small household goods. Donations can be brought to the shop and put in the donation bins or pickups can be scheduled by calling 631-234-0000 Ext.115.
St. Mary's Playtime Preschool Programmeis the oldest preschool in Suffolk County. Playtime was started in 1964 by The Reverend Edward Wisbauer, founding rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, and Doreen Zachery. Playtime is for children ages 3 – 5 and prepares them to enter kindergarten.
St. Mary’s has a Health & Wellness Ministry that promotes the health among parishioners through education via weekly health tips, monthly blood pressure checks and parish nurses as resources.
Episcopal Church Women - St. Mary's has an active ECW group. They host Craft Fairs and Yard Sales. Additionally, they coordinate our adopt-a-family program at Christmas and boxes of food for people in need at Thanksgiving.
